Easy hatches

Today, when building various engineering networks, lightweight plastic hatches are increasingly used to cover sewage manholes. They are advantageous compared to cast iron ones due to lower cost and ease of installation. Moreover, plastic hatches are much less frequently stolen, which unfortunately happens quite often with their cast iron counterparts.

Another advantage of plastic hatches is that they can be produced in a wide range of colors and various shapes. This allows them to be more attractive and used, for example, in landscaping lawns, driveways, and other decorative landscapes, because green-colored hatches are practically invisible in the grass and do not spoil the view with unnatural gray spots.

Lightweight hatches can be made of polymer and composite plastics. In terms of operational properties, they are practically on par with cast iron hatches. Plastic hatches have sufficient frost resistance and can withstand temperatures down to -50 degrees Celsius. They are also resistant to various aggressive substances and can be used on construction sites and industrial plants. As for the load capacity that hatches can withstand, it can vary depending on the product class. For example, plastic hatches can withstand a constant load of up to one and a half tons and are suitable for use in parks, playgrounds, and other places where there is no heavy transport. For use on roads and highways, there are hatches made of composite materials, as well as polymer-sand hatches. They can withstand much higher loads, with a maximum load capacity of up to twenty-five tons.

Lightweight hatches can be produced with or without locks, but as mentioned earlier, due to the impossibility of selling such hatches for scrap metal, the percentage of thefts is extremely low. Therefore, they can be very beneficial for road services, water utilities, and other organizations involved in the construction and maintenance of various manholes.
